01Four starting points, one ski area

Where you start depends on where you park or stay. All four car parks are right next to a valley station, and each one leads to a different part of the ski area.

For day visitors, the sixpack Mooslehen is the recommended starting point: the parking spaces are right next to the valley station, and the six-seater chairlift has weather-protection hoods. If you’re staying in the village, leave the car behind – in winter, the Fidibus ski bus runs through Filzmoos to the lifts free of charge.

02Which lift takes you where

The Papagenobahn is the ski area’s gondola: the six-seater cable car takes you up to the top station on the Rossbrand at 1,600 metres in seven minutes. Up there, the red Papageno runs and the Schörgialm are waiting. And if you fancy trying skinny skis for once, the High-Altitude Trail starts there too.

The Grossbergbahn, a four-seater chairlift, runs from 1,060 to 1,380 metres to the family runs, the red runs and the only black one. At the sixpack Mooslehen you’ll find a blue and a red slope as well as the FiLZOO, an adventure run for kids. The Schwaigalm and Geierberg drag lifts take you to blue and red runs. On top of that there are the Halsegg and Rettenegg drag lifts and the Bögrain practice lift for your first turns.

03Blue, red, black: which slope suits you

The ski area has 20 runs: twelve blue, seven red and one black. You’ll find blue slopes at almost every lift, from the family runs on the Grossberg to the Bögrain practice lift and the Rettenegglift. If you like it steeper, take the red runs at the Papagenobahn, on the Grossberg, at the sixpack Mooslehen, at the Schwaigalm and on the Geierberg.

The black run is on the Grossberg. There’s also a race course: you can book it with the operations manager for training sessions and club races, and on request Skiclub Filzmoos will take the times.

04Who skiing in Filzmoos is for

If you want to hang out at the umbrella bar until midnight, Filzmoos isn’t the place for you. The people who come here are beginners and returning skiers, leisurely and sporty skiers, families and groups who would rather catch the first gondola early. Because the ski area is easy to navigate, you’ll quickly find your way around.

And if you’re after more kilometres? Tickets for one day or less are valid in Filzmoos. From two days, your ski pass takes you across all of Ski amadé, with 760 km of slopes. Groups of 20 or more get their own offers and rates. What a ski day with kids looks like here is covered in our article on skiing with children.

05Where to stop for a bite between runs

We introduce seven mountain huts in the ski area on our page Our Mountain Huts. The Schörgialm sits right at the top station of the Papagenobahn, the Kleinbergalm at the top station of the Grossbergbahn and the Holzwurmhütte at the valley station of the sixpack Mooslehen.

The Moosalm sits right in the middle of the Rossbrand, the Schwaigalm by the Schwaigalmlift. Then there’s the Geierbergalm and the Alm Stadl, where the day winds down cosily with après-ski.

06What to sort out before your first lift

In the peak season from 19 December 2026 to 26 March 2027, a day ticket at the ticket office costs 70,00 € for adults, 54,50 € for teens and 36,00 € for children. Different rates apply before and after that; you’ll find all prices on our Tickets & Prices page. In the online ticket shop you can book at cheaper early-bird prices.

You can rent skis and boots at one of the four ski rental shops in the village, and three ski schools offer lessons. Which lifts and slopes are open today is shown in the live status on our Lifts & Slopes page, and four webcams show you what it looks like on the mountain.

07How a ski day in Filzmoos works

The winter season runs from 5 December 2026 to 28 March 2027, and the lifts operate daily. The Papagenobahn, Grossbergbahn and sixpack Mooslehen start at 8:30, and all three close at 16:00.

The slopes open at 8:30. From 17:00 to 8:30 they are closed, because the snow groomers work with winch cables. And when snow is short, the water is already on the mountain: the reservoir on the Rossbrand holds 125,000 cubic metres for snowmaking.
