Hospitality on the Rossbrand
Seven mountain huts, lodges and snack stops around the hiking area invite you to stop in: as the goal of a hike, as a stopover or as a break with a view.
They’re spread across the whole area, from the top station along the trails to the summit cross and up to the summit with its panoramic view. Everywhere, regional delicacies and Salzburg hospitality await you.
Schörgialm
Right next to the top station of the Papagenobahn, the Schörgi Alm is the first and last stop on the Rossbrand for many. A sun terrace with views of the Bischofsmütze and Dachstein, the Filz & Moor playground right below — and the last e-bike charging station before the summit.

Karhütte
Small, rustic and right at the end of the high-level trail: the Karhütte sits at 1,720 metres on the Rossbrand, around an hour’s walk from the top station of the Papagenobahn. Those who take the path along the ridge are rewarded with one of the quietest places to stop on the mountain.

Steinalm
Quiet and sunny, with sweeping views over the surrounding mountains: the Steinalm on the Rossbrand is easy to reach for hikers of all ages and in all weathers. That makes it a reliable destination for families planning a relaxed day in the mountains.

Moosalm
The Moosalm sits above Filzmoos, right in the middle of the Rossbrand, and delights with a magnificent panoramic view of the Bischofsmütze, the Dachstein and the Rötelstein.

Oberhagmoosalm
Almost everything here comes from their own farm: meat from Duroc pigs and Aubrac cattle, bread from the hut’s oven and homemade farmer’s doughnuts. The Oberhagmoosalm sits on the Radstadt side of the Rossbrand, about twenty minutes’ walk from the car park or an hour downhill from the Papagenobahn.

Radstädter Hütte
It doesn’t get any higher on the Rossbrand: the Radstädter Hütte stands right by the summit cross, in the middle of the 360-degree panorama of around 150 Alpine peaks. The hut has been completely renovated and today combines the view of a summit destination with the comfort of a modern place to stop.

Mandlberggut
Snack stop, schnapps distillery and mountain pine distillery under one roof — you won’t find this combination anywhere else. The Warter family serves homemade cakes and pastries and sausage specialities, gives tours of the Dachstein distillery and also distils essential mountain pine oil. Reachable via a leisurely forest trail from Filzmoos.
